Holsworthy Hamlets Parish Council presented Holsworthy Museum with an old minute book on Tuesday, May 4. Ken Carroll (Holsworthy Hamlets Parish Council chairman) explained that the book was found in sad circumstances.

Following the death of Paul Clarke — the previous parish clerk for the council for 25 years — members of the council were clearing up boxes that were found in a shed and at the bottom of a box, amongst old bills and receipts, councillors were "astonished" to find a book over 100-years-old.

Ken said that once they had opened the book it was very interesting to read and thought that it would be nice to allow everyone to view it, however as the council had no facilities to archive the book the museum was more than happy to accept it. The book dates back as far as the 1900s starting at 1904 and is all hand written with information about the area.

Ken explained that it is very clear to read and the present parish clerk, Miranda Howrihane, has scanned each page into the computer to be uploaded onto the Holsworthy Hamlets Parish Council's new website which is hoped to be up and running in two to three months.
