A CALL has gone out to petrol heads and British vehicle enthusiasts to help fill the ranks of a very special parade.

Bodmin Rotary has a very special and what it hopes will be unique event up its sleeve for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

The club wants to showcase all the British cars manufactured during 70 years of the Queen’s reign. On Sunday June 5, its planned that 70 cars, one registered each year Her Majesty has been on the throne, will drive 70 miles from Bodmin to Penzance.

Plans are progressing well, and many motorists have signed up, including the owners of an MGTD from all the way back in 1952 and an Electric Jaguar representing the most modern of the cars in 2022. But there are still 25 missing cars from various eras.

The Rotary team are hoping to have every British make represented including

Humber, Alvis, Austin, Armstrong Siddeley, Jenson, Rover, Lagonda, Riley, Hillman, Rolls Royce, Singer, Vauxhall, Triumph, Wolseley, and TVR.

For the entry fee of £25.00 every participant will get a bacon butty to send them off, a Monte Carlo style plaque and a commemorative mug.

To check which years are missing, visit the Bodmin Rotary Club website or look for the club on Facebook. Anyone owning a British car from one of the missing years who wants to take part in this truly historic and fun event should contact Peter Old on 01208 832333/831935 or [email protected].
