A FIRE station open day held in Bodmin raised over a thousand pound for three good causes.
At the start of August, Bodmin Community Fire Station opened its doors to the public for its annual open day, featuring demonstrations, engaging displays for all the family and a menagerie of flame free fun.
As well as part of the stations initiaitives to be vital engagement with the public, it also served the dual purpose of raising money for good causes.
This year’s good causes comprised of the Fire Fighters Charity, which provides assistance in timely clinical care and wellbeing support to members of the UK's fire services and their families, Man Down, which is a male-focused mental health charity and SNUG, which stands for Supporting Neonatal Users and Graduates.
SNUG is a charity that offers advocacy and wrap-around support to families who have been impacted upon by a difficult pregnancy, birth or neonatal stay.
In total, £1,635.06 was raised from the fun day which will be split between the three charities.
A spokesperson for Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: “What a day! A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at our Fire Station Open Day at the beginning of August.
“Together we raised an incredible £1,635.06, which will be split between The Fire Fighters Charity, Man Down and SNUG.
“Massive thanks to all the local businesses who kindly donated raffle prizes and supported the event—your generosity made it possible.
“Special shout-out to Kelly's Ice Cream, La Familia Burger, and all the services and agencies who were able to attend on the day.
“To our amazing community: thank you for turning out, taking part and making it such a great day. We can’t wait to see you all again in 2026!”
