A LETHAL knife was seized in Bude by Devon and Cornwall Police from an individual in Bude after being called to reports of a ‘dangerously out of control dog’ last weekend.

Officers from Devon and Cornwall Police received reports at around 1.30pm on Saturday, April 15, regarding an incident at a location on The Wharf in the town centre, with callers reportedly sighting “a dog which was out of control”.

After attending the scene, officers discovered that in fact, the incident was a suspected burglary, with a male at the location discovered to also be in possession of a bladed weapon (pictured).

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed: “Police were called to The Wharf in Bude at around 1.30pm on Saturday to a report of a dog dangerously out of control. The man was arrested in connection to that incident.

“Following additional enquiries, he was further arrested on suspicion of burglary and possession of a bladed weapon. A woman in her 20s was arrested for those two offences also.

“Both have been released on bail.”

A spokesperson for Bude police station confirmed further details of the incident, adding: “On April 15, 2023, officers from Bude arrested two people on suspicion of a residential burglary and having a dog dangerously out of control in a public place.

“Whilst conducting the arrest, a large blade was located and seized. Enquiries are ongoing.”
