LAUNCESTON travelled to Exeter on Sunday after playing a touring side at Polson on Saturday. they travelled minus the props so the game was played with uncontested scrums, writes Sarah Nash.
Launceston came out in the first half giving Exeter too much respect allowing them to be first to loose balls and being turned over easily in the rucks, but they put in some big tackles across the field to stop the continuous forward movement of a well organised Exeter team, at times Launceston had their moments and on one occasion Josh broke through to score under the post converted by Karl finishing the first half 38-7 down.
The second half was a completely different game with the lads playing with much more determination, they were working the ball across the pitch for Jack to score in the corner with Karl converting from the sideline but hitting the post and not going over.
The next attack saw Tom going over the line only to be held up, on the next forward movement Paddy broke through to score under the posts converted by Karl.
Exeter then scored a breakaway try against the run of play but Launceston came back with every member of the team giving their all only to be stopped short of the line with some good Exeter defence.
Special mention goes to Jake Scott for playing for the first time this weekend.
Man of the match: Jake Tozer for total commitment on the field.
Launceston: Andrew Craddock, Cameron Giles, Faron Tilley, Jake Scott, Alex Cottam, Jake Tozer, Jack Williams, Jamie Forshaw, Paddy Nash, Josh Barron, Tom Clogg, Karl Pearce and Ben Tharme.
