BE A lamb, be a brave lamb.

If you go down to the woods today, Whalesborough Woods near Bude that is, then you will be sure to meet the bravest lamb of them all.

Throughout the year, dog walkers have feared crossing the field adjacent to the Weir Bistro and Cafe because of one lamb.

Deformed and outcast by the flock, this little lamb had no other choice. Born with a crook neck, seeing the world from a sideways perspective, standing her ground was the only option.

So day after day, dog walkers braved the crossing of the lamb with its head on sideways.

But dog walkers weren’t the only ones to notice the courage and character of this little lamb.

The next generation farmer who owned the land named Dan, smiled mercifully upon this livestock’s bravery and with his family took this brave little lamb into their hearts, giving her a name, ‘Bendy Wendy’, and a paddock, which she now shares with two ponies.

There is a moral to this story, which we all know within our heart — just because someone may not be perfect, it doesn’t mean they cannot live a full life.

If you wish to go and pet this tame sheep, then go to Whalesborough Woods or the Weir Bistro.

Bendy Wendy and the farmer who took her off the menu and gave her a home will be happy to let you see the bravest lamb in Cornwall.
