DAMAGE to Bude's beaches could pose a serious threat to users' safety, according to Tourist Information Centre (TIC) director Paul Tilzey. The winter storms stripped significant areas of sand away from both of the town's beaches, exposing the sunken forest on Crooklets — the first time in living memory this has taken place — providing a rocky barrier for people wishing to make their way from the top of the beach to the seafront. Mr Tilzey believes the area could pose a genuine threat to beach users' safety.?He pointed out how easy it would be to break an ankle if someone entered the water unawares. He said:?"It's down to the bedrock. It's always been here; it's not been brought down here, it's been exposed. It's not just Bude, it's all along the coast, but there is the potential for someone to drown." Mr Tilzey has already suggested that moving sand from the large dunes located at the top of Summerleaze onto exposed areas of the beaches is the obvious solution to the problem, and reiterated it would be beneficial to all who visited and worked in the area. TOURIST Information Centre director Paul Tilzey believes the rocks which have fallen from the cliff face at Summerleaze provided a serious health risk to beachgoers
