ON SUNDAY, August 14, Marian Humphries, who runs the monthly Parkinson’s drop-in in Launceston, held a barbecue at Torwood, Egloskerry.
Though primarily a social event, by selling tickets it was hoped that some money could be raised for Parkinson’s charities.
The barbecue was blessed with good weather and nearly 60 people enjoyed a very pleasant afternoon, with nice food and good company.
Special thanks were expressed to Marian’s daughters who helped to prepare everything and worked hard all afternoon, to son-in-law, Jonathan Quinn, who slaved over the barbecue, and finally to the businesses who all very kindly donated raffle prizes.
The generosity of the guests and local companies meant that Marian was able to send £350 to Parkinson’s charities.
The next drop-in will be on Tuesday, September 6 between 2pm-4pm at the new venue of The Liberty Suite above Jericho’s Kitchen in 4 Northgate Street, Launceston. All are welcome to attend.
