THE team at NatWest Launceston has expressed thanks to its customers and the community for helping to raise more than £250 for local charities, including the hospital league of friends, and Sport Relief.

The latest fundraising efforts included a cake sale, a raffle and branch manager Giorgio Acqua having his legs waxed in the banking hall.

The team recently helped the League of Friends of Launceston Hospital apply for a £2,500 grant from the RBS Community Fund, which was used towards helping them improve facilities at the Minor Injury Unit at Launceston Hospital.

Giorgio Acqua said: “It’s great that our customers and the local community have been so generous in helping us raise money for such valuable causes. I want to thank them and my team for all their support and can confirm that my leg hair is growing back.”

League of friends treasurer Janet Cameron said: “The League of Friends would like to express their appreciation and heartfelt thanks to all the staff at the NatWest Bank, Launceston, for their fundraising efforts towards the Minor Injuries Unit appeal for the sum of £2,650, with the activities within the branch, as well as working hard behind the scenes to secure a grant from the bank’s national charity award panel.

“The league feels that the new MIU extension with its increased capability will be of great benefit to the growing population of Launceston and the commercial businesses and industry area.”
