HAVING recently taken on the role of organising this event, St Breward Village Band was relieved and pleased to see so many people together with their children attending this year’s Christmas lights switch-on.

On the very cold evening of Friday, December 1, Father Christmas arrived — this year in a Land Rover — and the Christmas lights were switched on at 6pm to a great cheer from the audience.

Both the St Breward Silver and training bands provided the music for some traditional carols — all out in the open air too. Mulled wine and mince pies were available at the kitchen and approximately 60 children visited Santa in his grotto.

After a brief conversation with him, all left with a little present to unwrap.

Special thanks have been extended to all who helped in any way to make it the success it was. Thanks have also been expressed to Darren at The Old Inn and John Moger for their generous donations towards the purchase of the Christmas tree and additional lighting equipment, as well as to Nick, Robin Teague, and Jonny Allen at Western Power for putting up all the lights.
