AS IS the yearly tradition, members of Holsworthy Hamlets Parish Council brought people together to help keep the local area tidy.
The council hosted its annual litter pick event on the morning of Saturday, October 3, and there was once again a strong turnout.
Thanking those who joined Dr Julia Foster, parish clerk of Holsworthy Hamlets Parish Council, said: “Many thanks go to the 13 volunteers from Chilsworthy and the two volunteers from Chasty who gave up their time on Saturday morning to come out and help to clean up the parish by picking up litter.”
The band of volunteers were undeterred by the rather wet and miserable weather, coming out and collecting a huge amount of litter which had been discarded along the roads and hedgerows of the parish.
The volunteers were provided with high viz jackets, litter pickers and bin bags and they collected up litter across the parish.
Following their efforts, the volunteers met up for well-earned refreshments and conversation in Chilsworthy Village Hall. They were treated to hot sausage and bacon rolls which had been prepared for them, with thanks going to David and Christine Campbell for doing the cooking.
Those taking part included Dr Foster, Sue Banks, Keith Wilton, David Johnston, Colin Maxey, Laura Godolphin, Alastair Clements, Amanda Suitters, Tim Penny, Rob Hore, Nic Rogers, Ros Wardle, Tim Watson, Trevor Dawson and Howard Godolphin.
Thanks were expressed to all who came out to help with this endeavour.
