AT THE October meeting members of the Launceston WI were able to collect the various awards, which they had won at the Launceston Agricultural Show in July.
The Werren Cup, for the ‘best corporate display’, was accepted by Vicki Knights.
Sharon Parnell, who had only recently joined the WI, had been awarded cups in not ‘novice craft’ and ‘novice cookery’ classes, while Joy Hancock won the ‘novice flower arrangement’ class and Ms Knights was awarded ‘best in show’ for her arrangement of flowers in a shoe.
The Rose Bowl for the winners in the CFWI quiz, held in April, was presented to the winning team with Launceston WI’s ‘Team B’, who had come second, also presented with a certificate of merit by outgoing county chairman Barbara Corbett.
The award winning quiz team members were: Launceston WI Team A — Rosemary Freestone, Wendy Smith, Vicki Knights and Rosemary McClenaghan; Team B — Stephanie Notely, Jenny Edwards, Joy Hancock and Jane Bullivant.
Launceston WI also did well at the recent jam and craft festival held by Bodmin Gaol Birds WI in Wadebridge. Their entry of a basket containing jars of jam, lemon curd and chutney gained third place. Ms McClenaghan also gained awards for her entries of jam, chutney and lemon curd.
