INSPECTOR Lynden Hughes and Sgt Aaron Ward presented PCSO Terry Groves from Camelford with the inaugural award for services to the community on November 16.

Officers within the Launceston sector, which serves Camelford, Launceston, Bude and Callington, created ‘The Terry Groves Award’, to be presented each year to the individual who selflessly carries out their duty to the benefit of their communities.

The award is engraved with the words ‘For the assistance of all, at the expense of yourself’. This is based on the Force motto contained within the Force crest ‘In Auxilium Omnium’.

Terry is well known and has been a PCSO living and working within the Camelford area for many years and epitomises the ethos of Neighbourhood Policing. Terry has always sought to positively encourage his communities to connect with each other with the goal of making it a safer and better place to live.

Devon and Cornwall Police would like to congratulate Terry on his award and thank him for the passionate and professional manner in which he serves the communities of Camelford and surrounding areas.
