ON Sunday, October 10, Saint Swithin’s Church, Launcells, was looking beautiful for the harvest festival.
The talented flower arrangers had filled the church with amazing displays. The autumn colours seemed to bring an atmosphere to match the harvest theme of the hymns which were sung during the service.
After the service there was a harvest festival lunch held in the Launcells Parish Hall.
This was attended by 33 members of the church and parishioners, who enjoyed delicious food, all provided by the church members and friends.
On the menu was cottage pie, shepherd’s pie, vegetable lasagne and vegetarian cottage pie, served with peas and carrots. For dessert was apple crumble, apple and blackberry crumble, raspberry and apple crumble, strawberry mouse and profiteroles, served with custard and cream.
A spokesperson said: “Rev Teresa Folland said grace, which was an interesting one. A superman’s grace before food, and with actions.
“When we had finished our meal, Teresa then got us to sing ‘10 days of Harvest’. Great fun!”
There was a request for donations, which will go to the Bude Food Bank, £340 was raised for this good cause.
The spokesperson added: “I would like to thank all those involved with the decoration of the church and the preparation of the lunch.”
