BUDE auctioneer James Kendling recently appeared on popular BBC quiz show The Weakest Link.

James finished third on the show. He was voted off after getting a question about the Chinese calendar incorrect. He said: "I was caught out by the Chinese Year of the Ox. I got that the wrong way round and it gave that chap the chance to boot me off otherwise I would probably have been in the last two."

Despite not walking away with the prize money, James said he had a "fantastic" time taking part in the show. He said host Anne Robinson, who he previously met when he took part in 'Test the Nation', "plays a very good part."

He described her as a "formidable lady" and advised prospective candidates not to try and be too smart. He said: "If you're too cocksure she will take you on."

The Weakest Link is filmed at Pinewood Studios, which gave James an opportunity to have a look around some of the other sets including the 007 stage which was built in 1976 for the Bond movie The Spy Who Loved Me and where the latest Bond movie 'Quantum of Solace' was filmed. The sitcom 'My Family' was also being filmed in the studio next door.

James has appeared on several television shows and The Weakest Link will not be his last. He said: "There's a couple more in the making. I'm planning to carry on, not game shows necessarily. It's just fun to be involved."
