OVER 25 firefighters from Launceston and Callington tackled a gorse fire at Laneast Downs last Monday at around 8.25pm.

Over ten hectares of high gorse were reported on fire, with crews using two hosereels and beaters to extinguish the flames. Arson is suspected.

On the same day, a fire appliance from Bodmin attended a gorse fire on Bodmin Moor.

Reports were made at around 10.15pm and upon arrival at the scene firefighters used beaters to extinguish the fire — estimated to measure 50 square metres.

Again, arson is suspected and details have been passed on to Devon and Cornwall Police.
