A GROUP from Exeter Army’s recruitment division pitched in with community beach cleans in Bude recently, tackling three beaches and walking away with 15 bags of debris and litter to be recycled.
BeachCare, part of Keep Britain Tidy, is working with the marine conservation group, Fathoms Free, which is based in Cornwall and works tirelessly to rid the county’s beaches and seas of marine debris and waste, an epidemic problem occurring worldwide.
On Thursday, January 19, BeachCare invited eight soldiers from Exeter Army’s recruitment division to get involved and contribute to cleaning three beaches in the Bude area in the winter sunshine, Upton beach, Northcott Mouth and Sandymouth.
The group managed to collect enough rubbish to fill 15 bags, equalling to 250 kilos, of which 90% is due to be recycled in the coming weeks through the beach litter recycling trial with Devon Contract Waste.
