THERE have been a number of events taking place recently in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, but one man decided instead of coffee and cakes he would brave the shave and chop his locks.

The event was held at Lifton Hall Hotel. Anthony [Tony] Giddings (pictured) was well supported when he decided to take on the brave the shave challenge after seeing it on TV.

Tony said: “I’ve not had cancer myself, but wanted to do something for Macmillan to help others. Shaving my head is something I can do. Many thanks to all my work mates and the customers of Lifton Hall Hotel for giving so generously.”

Lifton Hall Hotel agreed to host the shaving as Tony is one of its regulars and his wife, Margot, works there.

Co-owners Robert Fleming and Richard Elworthy were delighted to play host to the event. They had missed out on holding their own Macmillan coffee morning so were keen to support Tony and the charity by hosting the hair-shaving event.

They said: “We were delighted to host Tony’s Brave the Shave for Macmillan. The charity does some great work and cancer touches us all.”

The money was counted and it was announced that Tony had managed to raise £300 for the charity.
