THE fourth installment of the Holsworthy Mutual Aid group’s popular community Bake Off-style events was well received this season, with some incredible gingerbread houses being constructed.

The Great Holsworthy Bake Off series was launched at the beginning of 2021, with local families being invited to collect a food parcel, enabling everyone to join in the fun and get baking, no matter what their skill level.

The local community were once again invited to the collect a free kit from the Memorial Hall and get creative. On December 22 the group of volunteers handed out 200 gingerbread making kits which were kindly supplied by Holsworthy Waitrose store.

On behalf of the Mutual Aid group, Jon Hutchings said: “We wanted to hold Holsworthy Bake Off 4 as the previous ones had been so well received. Bringing the community together with a challenge like this is so important during unprecedented times we are in. Judging by all the pictures and comments on social media it went down really well. The Holsworthy Mutual Aid are still helping out where we can with the help of our volunteers.

“Just before the schools closed for the Christmas break, working with the community college and primary school we provided some food hampers to some vulnerable families. We would like to wish everyone a happy new year, especially our volunteers.”
