Recently, the Launceston Army Cadets had their Annual Inspection conducted by Captain John Hiorns Company Commander of Gibraltar Company of the Cornwall Army Cadets.
Captain Hiorns was very impressed by the standard and turnout of the cadets on parade and of their achievements in the last 12 months.
The Launceston Cadets had, in the past year, undertaken many training events including,
recently, participating in the Annual Sports Weekend at Penhale Army Camp, which included football, rugby, orienteering, a mile walk and cross-country.
This was in addition to normal training which included participating in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme and assisting at many events in the community.
During the evening, Captain Hiorns presented proficiency badges to Army Cadets Sam Levis and Jessica King; Stuart Austin was promoted to Corporal; Cadet of the Month was Ryan Furse and The Shield for the Most Promising Cadet was presented to cadet Sam Huggins.
The Launceston Army Cadets meet every Tuesday evening at 7pm under the Command of Colour Serjeant Sarah Crane, assisted by Warren Mazgai and Robert Stearn, at the Cadet Centre, Launceston College.
