THE annual Coronation Park Trust firework display was held in Launceston on Friday evening — receiving praise from locals.

This year saw the display being fired by a professional pyrotechnic company to great applause from the many hundreds that attended in cold but dry weather.

The beacon in Coronation?park was lit by trustees Tony Sandercock, vice chairman, and Ray Mitchell, treasurer.

Dave Gordon, chair of the trustees, said: “We were a little worried about this year’s display in that in many respects the display was out of our hands.

“However, our concerns were soon to be dispelled once the display started because it was nothing short of brilliant. All the feedback we have received from people has convinced me that this is the way forward for the event.

“Prior to the start I asked the team ‘how will I know when the display is finished?’ His reply was ‘you will know trust me’ and he was right, the finale was simply amazing and by far the best display the trustees have presented.”

The trustees thanked everyone who attended to support the event, with all profits made from the display being put towards the park’s future infrastructure.
