ST THOMAS Church was recently the venue for an ‘Angel Extravaganza’, which filled the church with angels in aid of the Cornwall Air Ambulance and the church.
Angels filled every available space, pews, windows and altars and were created by local businesses and artists of all ages, from the very young at Smiley Happy People to established local businesses, such as Jo Downs, whose angel had recognition in America after Radio Cornwall aired the event.
Visitors were greeted with an ethereal display, which brought tears to the eyes of many who came to view it.
Children inspired by the event were then able to make their own special angel to take home at the pop-up workshop held in the hall and on Saturday a competition for the ‘best dressed angel’ was won by Nicole Robson.
Funds were boosted by a raffle with a quilt, kindly donated by Pauline Sandercock, which was won by Jillian Penhale and a silent auction of some of the angels that were kindly donated.
Thanks were expressed to the angel creators, the helpers who served the refreshments and those who ran various stalls, the local businesses for their donations and the general public who all contributed to make the event such a success.
