SIXTEEN members of the Bude and Stratton Twinning Association took part in their annual exchange visit to Ergue-Gaberic in Brittany recently.
On Wednesday, May 13, the members took the overnight ferry and were treated to a calm crossing, followed by a leisurely drive across Brittany.
On arrival, members were taken individually to their host's homes for a friendly French welcome and evening meal before the programme of events and entertainment began across the following days.
Activities for the group included an official reception attended by the mayor of Ergue-Gaberic and a visit to a Breton museum in Quimper.
The members also visited the village of Locronon — reputed to be the best historical village in the whole of France — which included an authentic weaver's workplace with demonstrations of preparing and weaving with hemp.
That was followed by lunch at the village crêperie where savoury and sweet crêpes were the order of the day. To make the occasion even more memorable the group were honoured by the presence of the mayor of Locronon throughout lunch.
An afternoon of games followed before a grand dinner attended by visitors and guests with impromptu dancing, musical entertainment and much merriment.
