FRIENDS and supporters of ‘Amy’s Walk’, which is held each year in memory of Amy Thorland who lost her battle with leukaemia, took to the Camel Trail for the tenth time on Sunday, June 24.
This was the tenth fundraiser in aid of ‘Sam’s House’, a CLIC Sargent ‘Home from Home’ in Bristol.
Amy lost her battle with leukaemia in 2009. Since then, the walks have been held annually in aid of Sam’s House, a CLIC Sargent ‘Home from Home’ in Bristol, where Amy stayed with her family for seven months. Sam’s House provides a place for families to stay for free during their child’s cancer treatment.
After the walk evening refreshments were provided by The Brendon Arms, Bude, and music by the group ‘Finch’.
Along with collection pots in local shops and businesses and a quiz held at Bude Social Club, an amazing total of £2,946.10 has been raised this year.
A spokesperson said: “It was a fantastic day. A huge thank you to all for their support.”
