Launceston Foodbank held a neighbourhood collection at the town’s Tesco supermarket over three days recently.

In total there was almost 900kg of food given and £576 collected in donations, with the community of Launceston again doing a sterling job.

Tesco, as part of the support for the Foodbank, added another 20% on top of the amount of food donated, which makes a huge difference to ensure the Foodbank can obtain more of the items they are running short of.

Volunteers along with Tesco Staff manned the stand, generously gave their time to allow the collection to take place along with the Foodbank volunteers who work tirelessly each week, while members of the Launceston Lions Club also supported the collection.

Thanks were expressed to all of the people who helped out, Tesco Community Champion — Shelley Vanstone and Foodbank administrator Lorraine Conway who worked so hard to make it so successful.

If you wish to consider becoming a volunteer please contact 01566 779550 or visit the Foodbank website for more details.
