I enjoyed reading the poem from Mrs Sheila Mawer (the 'Post', April 9) and agree that the walk is quite different now from how it used to be.

But all is not lost! On a recent walk from Bude to Hele Bridge and back I noted 38 different species of birds, and had I tried harder, could possibly have added two or three more to the list.

Admittedly, Kingfisher was not on the list, but they are still about.
