HOLSWORTHY & District Lions have a new president. The club’s current treasurer, John Cottle, assumed the role of president on July 1.
John, who was also president in 2012, was presented with the ceremonial chain of office at the Lions’ last social meeting on Thursday, June 23, at the White Hart Hotel in Holsworthy, where various Lions and their wives enjoyed a meal, and a pint or two.
John thanked out-going president Brian Withall for all of his hard work over the previous 12 months.
One of Brian’s last duties as president was to present a cheque for £100 to Holsworthy Cricket Club. The money will be used to help buy equipment to keep the square and outfield in good condition. The cheque was presented to Dan Marks and George Orr-Wilcox of Holsworthy CC, together with some of the colts team.
