AS the months get colder the likelihood of icy conditions increases, and Devon County Councillor for the Holsworthy area Barry Parsons has issued information to help support his local area ahead of any potential cold snap.

Cllr Parsons said: “I am mindful of the time of year and wanted to update town and parishes about contact details regarding salting and gritting in the case of bad weather particularly over the coming winter months (and, very mindful of the Christmas holiday period coming up).”

He said the parish salt for snow wardens is managed by a Neighbourhood Highway Officer — for the Holsworthy Rural ward the officers are Steve Brockman and Kieran Stanbury — and any orders under this scheme should be raised through them.

Cllr Parsons added: “With regards to the secondary road routes these are usually treated during extended periods of cold weather defined as snow or ice for most of the day. Details of this are in the Winter Service Plan in section 2.”
