THE Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust recently initiated an inaugural tribute — the 'Extra Mile Excellence and Innovation Awards' — with which trust employees from surgeons to cleaners are recognised for innovation, excellence and commitment. There were more than 60 nominations and 29 awards issued, one of which was presented to the contraception service at Stratton, which is run by Dr Di Gurd and nurse Jenny Cloke. They were secretly nominated by Rowena Wilson, the clinic receptionist at Stratton Clinic. Jenny was unfortunately unable to attend the ceremony because she was on holiday.
