THE Royal Shakespeare Company rewarded ‘Shakespeare Ambassadors’ at Launceston College recently and followed this up with a performance at Dingles Heritage Fairground.

On Thursday, June 28, ten students from Launceston College were recognised for their commitment to The Royal Shakespeare Company and their passion for all things Shakespeare.

Tamsyn Lang, Chloe Levis, Isaac Kerwin, John Hopper, Charlie Vickery, Myah Smith, Alfie Branch, Millie Hollidge, Daisy Mae Wade Hall and Harry Japes were all presented with certificates signed by the artistic director of the Royal Shakespeare Company, along with a personalised notepad and badges to celebrate their enthusiasm and love for the work of Shakespeare and helping to enable others within the college and local primary schools to also reap the rewards of engaging in literature and drama.

Then, later that day, more than 100 students gathered together at Launceston College to rehearse their collaborative performance of ‘Macbeth’, which they then performed at Dingles Heritage Fairground on Friday, June 29.

Teachers said the dedication, passion and engagement of the students during rehearsal were commendable and the feeling for Friday’s performance was one of excitement, pride and tenacity.

From Year 2 to sixth formers, all took on roles that celebrated the dark and sinister play of Macbeth and the team spirit the project created amongst the secondary and primary schools alike was phenomenal.

Launceston College celebrated its first year as a lead associate school in style as the performance took to the stage — or more accurately, fairground.
