THE Holsworthy Fundraising Committee for Macmillan Cancer Support has retired after 40 years of service to the charity.
This was marked with a tea party at the Memorial Hall on Tuesday, March 24 where the Macmillan fundraising manager Sian Ward-Edwards and area manager Suzie Warren presented members with their long service certificates.
The committee was formed by volunteers back in 1975 to raise vital funds to help pay for Macmillan services and some are its original members.
Alma Bishop, May Allcorn and Ruth Garland were unable to attend the party and were later presented with their certificates in their homes. May and Ruth received certificates for 40 years' service and Alma a certificate for 15 years.
Kathy Mayer, who was chair of the committee, said they had been looking for replacements for the officer roles in particular for around the last 18 months, as committee members were 'getting older'.
