‘A PORT Isaac Christmas’, a community CD made to keep alive for future generations the village’s carols and music, along with some new songs traditionally sung there at Christmas, is to be launched on September 13.
This professionally produced and recorded CD has been funded by The Doc Martin Fund — money donated by Buffalo Pictures for the benefit of the village.
All the money from sales will be given to Port Isaac School to help finance music and arts projects. The pupils sang two of the 15 carols on the CD alongside local singers and musicians, including some of the Fisherman’s Friends.
The release is part of the finale of the St Peter’s Church Flower Festival in Port Isaac. The three-day festival is open daily from 10am to 5pm from tomorrow (Friday) to Sunday, September 13. Refreshments will available on the Friday and Saturday.
The festival ends with a grand finale open to everyone and includes the official release of ‘A Port Isaac Christmas’, a children’s harvest festival for all the famlly and a free Mad Hatter’s Tea Party for children of all ages. There will also be a sale of the festival flowers and harvest produce.
Barbara Hawkins, one of the organisers, said: “Our jam-packed finale, as well as the flower festival, is aimed at local people and visitors and we welcome everyone to come along and join us.
“We are very proud of the CD and all the very talented singers and musicians who gave so freely of their talent and time; it is a very special and historical record of music in Port Isaac.”
