Val Braund, of Whitstone, donated a cheque for £350 to the League of Friends of Stratton Hospital recently, after raising money from her 60th birthday.

She celebrated her birthday with 60 family and friends at Hedley Wood Park near Whitstone, where they enjoyed a carvery on Sunday, February 20.

Val decided to support the Stratton Hospital re-development campaign after her daughter was born in the Stratton Hospital Domino unit, which she originally helped to fund.

Along with this, both of her children have been treated at the hospital and as a result wanted to help support the community hospital.

Val said: "It was lovely to get together with family and friends and sit down and talk with everyone." She hopes to do more fundraising for the hospital in the future.
