THE staff at a daycare nursery in Launceston are ‘Smiley Happy People’ after being judged ‘good’ by Ofsted.

Smiley Happy People at Newport was inspected on July 18 and was rated good in all areas.

Inspector Margaret Baird reported: “The manager and staff are vigilant about children’s welfare and know the correct procedures to follow to keep children safe from harm. Staff have a sound understanding of children’s levels of achievement and plan effectively for the next steps in their development.

“Staff form good relationships with children and know their individual needs well. Children are interested and motivated learners, and take part in activities with enjoyment and enthusiasm.”

Owner Vron said: “It was great to have OFSTED in at a busy time of the year when we are full to the brim. The inspector put us at ease so she could see a true Smiley Happy People day with a very wide variety of activities and fun.“

Manager Kerry added: “We are so delighted with her report and in her feedback she described us as ‘an oasis on an industrial estate’. We are very proud of our team, children and families.”
