PRE-SCHOOL staff are celebrating, following praise from a recent Government inspection.

Inspectors from Ofsted have rated Launceston Pre-school as 'good'.

Manager Claire Curtis said they were 'pleased' with the grade. Claire has set up new electronic journals since she became full-time manager in September to improve methods of how children's progress is recorded.

She said: "We have been piloting the system, in which parents can access their children's learning journals from home and families comment on how easy the system is to understand. This helps them to support their children at home, and builds on our good relationship with parents."

Included in the report, Ofsted said: "Staff are warm and respectful towards children, as a result children copy. Staff teach children makaton; this aids pre-talking children to develop confidence to communicate."

The pre-school is open from Monday to Friday 8.45am to 3.45pm during term time.
