THERE were huge smiles and some eyes filled with tears when it was announced that more than £1,500 had been raised as a result of a Delabole event to go towards 'Abi's Wish to Walk'.

Abi Crowther is a 12-year-old girl who has cerebral palsy. She is unable to stand alone and cannot walk without the aid of her frame. However, there is a chance of a life changing operation, which could be carried out in America.

Funds are being raised to help Abi achieve her wish, so a coffee and cake, soup and sweet day was organised by Delabole Methodist Church on Saturday, March 14 when many people attended and not only enjoyed the food on offer but also generously supported the raffle, cake and nimble fingers stalls — not forgetting the games organised by 7-year-old Jasmine.
