A FIRST for Holsworthy Army Cadets Force (ACF) as a cadet becomes the first in the detachment to receive promotion to the senior rank of cadet staff serjeant.
Cadet serjeant Jack Heal, aged 17, received the promotion to cadet staff serjeant during a company training camp in May from officer commanding for North Devon ACF Major David Price.
There are only three opportunities for promotion of this kind across the ten North Devon detachments.
LCpls Sam Williams, Tilly Daniel and cadet Tim Collier also received their bronze Duke of Edinburgh awards during the presentation ceremony.
Detachment commander 2Lt Jim Harvey said: “Jack’s promotion was very well earned and a fantastic achievement by him and for the detachment.
“The cadets receiving their DofE awards have all shown commitment and determination in completing the challenges of the award scheme. I am very proud of them all.”
