ON FRIDAY, July 12 the body of a 20 year-old man has was found in a field near Bude Junior School.

Police have identified the body as a local man.

Officers were called to a field at Broadclose Hill, close to Bude Football Club at around 2.10pm on Friday afternoon.

The officers were responding to a call for the ‘concern for the welfare of a man.’

A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Police and ambulance were called to a field in the Broadclose Hill area of Bude, around 2.10pm on Friday 12 July following concern for the welfare of a man.

“On arrival officers located the 20-year-old man. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Budehaven Community School along with two primary schools who use the path, had sent messages to parents telling them that the footpath between Bude Junior school and Stratton Primary, by Bude Football Club, had been closed by the police due to the incident.
