TRAFFIC came to a near standstill across the Tamar Bridge this morning with police in attendance, causing major disruption for rush hour travel.

It later transpired that the A38 Eastbound had been closed at around 8.24am before Pemros Road, Plymouth, due to a broken down lorry.

However, within approximately half an hour the road had been cleared and school and work traffic from both the Plymouth and Saltash sides was able to resume.

The traffic reporting system Inrix reported: “Road cleared and traffic returned to normal, broken down lorry removed on A38 Eastbound before Pemros Road.”
