Devon and Cornwall Police say that a suspect remains in custody following a serious incident in Bodmin last night (Wednesday)

Police were called to reports of a serious assault in Rhind Street, Bodmin, at around 7.45pm yesterday.

Officers found that a man aged in his 40s sustained a stab wound to his leg and was taken to hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

Officers subsequently went to an address in Par where a 29-year-old man from the Liskeard area was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and assault.

He remains in police custody at this time.

Police would like to reassure the community this was an isolated incident. It is believed both parties are known to each other. Nobody else is currently being sought in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing.
