Two men from Holsworthy have been helping police with their inquiries.

Following the incident, a number of comments were made on social media and the mayor of Holsworthy, Joanne Heaven, wants to reassure residents that Holsworthy is still a ‘safe place to live’. She said: “Following the latest incident at the weekend which involved a local man, Holsworthy Town Council would like to send our thoughts to the family and a speedy recovery.

“Over the last 24 to 48 hours, there has been a vast amount of negative comments on social media about Holsworthy town, and I, as mayor of Holsworthy, feel that this is not the case. Holsworthy is and still is a wonderful safe place to live and this is a one-off isolated incident.

“Holsworthy Police figures for 2018/2019 show how the recorded crime rate has dropped by 23.3% in the last year.

“Family members of the victim are on social media and as Holsworthy is very much a community from which all of us take great pride in our area, please can you be reminded of the sensitivity of this matter.
