TWO fire crews from Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service are battling a fire in the open near to Bodmin Beacon Nature Reserve.
The crews were called to reports of a fire in the open at 1.57pm on Tuesday, August 11.
It was ignited on the outer perimeter of the nature reserve, some distance up a pathway that begins at Whitestone Road.
Gusty winds in the area have sent the smoke billowing in the direction of the town centre, with residents reporting a strong smell of smoke outside of their properties.
A spokesperson for Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: “Two crews are in attendance at a small fire in the open. Crews are fighting the fire at this time.”
