Margaret’s Rustic Tea Gardens, at Northcott Mouth, was broken into recently.

Police are currently investigating the burglary, which is believed to have taken place sometime between 8pm on Sunday, July 7 and 9am on Monday, July 8.

According to police, a quantity of cash and food items were stolen and a glass door was smashed.

Despite this happening, it hasn’t broken owner Margaret Frost’s spirits.

She said: “Bude is a wonderful place. I cannot thank the local people who have been so wonderful.”

Margaret has been running the tea rooms for over 56 years and is grateful to be part of what she described as a ‘giving community’.

She said: “I have received so many flowers and cards. I have said it before and I will say it again I am grateful to be part of such a caring and giving community.”

Following reports of the break in, many local tradespeople pledged their services to Margaret.

She explained: “The door and everything has been done and fixed. The support I have had has been fantastic, overwhelming even.”

This incident wont be putting Margaret off doing what she loves to do.

She said: “I have been doing this for 56 years now and I love it everyday and will continue to. I couldn’t ask for a better place to live.”

Officers from Devon and Cornwall Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident.
