Highways England is advising road users that the A30 remains closed in both directions between Daisymount and Honiton due to a serious collision.
Those driving home from work and school might want to seek an alternative route.
The closure has been in place since around 12.30pm this afternoon (Friday) while emergency services attend the scene, and is likely to remain in place for several hours.
Motorists are being diverted via the A3180 at Daisymount, across the A3052 and onto the A375 at Sidford, where they can continue to the A30 at Honiton.
We are working closely with our colleagues in Devon and Cornwall Police, who are leading on the incident.
Drivers are reminded to allow extra time for their journeys, and regular updates will be issued on the Highways England Twitter feed @HighwaysSWEST.
