MORE than 70 Santas converged on Holsworthy on December 19 for the first Holsworthy AFC Santa Run.
The route took the festive mob of Santas through Stanhope Park and around the streets of Holsworthy, with music and even a visit from the real Santa completing the day.
Although a Santa Run has been held in Holsworthy for many years, this was the first of its kind to be organised by the football club.
The event soon snowballed from the club’s initial idea and became something truly special — a festive family event with prizes on offer, food, entertainment and a whole host of games being held after the race.
A fun time was had by all and the football club were delighted to see how much local support their event received.
A Holsworthy AFC spokesperson said: “Well what can we say? What a great turn-out for our first ever Santa Run.
“Over 70 runners from all ages took part, facepainting, fancy dress, penalty shootout, tombola, Santa and a Christmas draw.
“Thank you to everyone who took part, everyone who gave fantastic prizes, committee members, stewards and Amen Munchies again for fantastic food! Paparazzi Parish, Kernow Discos, Holsworthy Youth Football, Magpies RBL club and the lovely facepainter!
“Too many people to thank individually, but you all know who you are.”
They added: “Thank you Holsworthy, you’re great.”
