THE 20th Cornish & Devon Post charity Gala, held last Friday at Penstowe, Kilkhampton, was a fantastic success and raised in the region of £3,000 for the Children's Hospice South West Precious Lives Appeal.
Well over 300 people packed into the Leisure Suite of Penstowe for what promised to be a fantastic evening of entertainment.
Everyone there knew that as well as a great night out, their money was going to a great cause and their generosity was evident throughout — from the ticket money to the hundreds of raffles that were sold to the loose change that was thrown into the buckets at the end of the evening.
Speaking after the event, Judy Pride, from the hospice said: "We are honoured to be the beneficiaries of the 'Post' Gala each year and so grateful to all the readers who come along in support of our cause. This year's event was yet again a fabulous evening of entertainment, thoroughly enjoyed by all.
"On top of that a magnificent total has been raised, so thank you all for helping to make such a difference to the lives of local families with children who are not expected to reach adulthood."
Suzanne Cleave from the 'Post' added: "Thank you to everyone for helping to make this year's Gala such a success — our three excellent acts; the 'Post' staff who helped on the night; businesses and people who donated prizes; the management and staff at Penstowe for providing such a great venue and everyone who attended.
"Don't forget to put Friday, February 10 in your diaries for the 2012 Gala!"
