A LAUNCESTON runner who lost confidence after injuring himself in a marathon is preparing for a 100-kilometre trail run thanks to a trainer restoring his self belief.
Dan Murray, 35, was 24 miles into the Exmoor Extreme Trail race in January when he pulled a hip flexor and had to limp the remaining four miles.
Mr Murray, who works for Cormac Solutions as a park supervisor in St Austell, decided to take personal training (PT) sessions at Crunch Gym in Launceston to help him stay active as he recovered.
Instructor Mark Quick introduced him to cross-training, combining cardio with weights to build his strength and fitness and reduce the chance of further injuries.
"I was nervous about running because of the injury and was doing acupuncture and sports massage," said Mr Murray.
