A LITTLE over 75-years-old, Holsworthy Golf Club is a youngster in relative terms.

Formed in 1937 as a nine hole course, before becoming 18 in 1981, the club's establishment came about in unique circumstance.

When wealthy draper Bill Coombe was refused membership at Bude & North Cornwall Golf Club in 1936 because he was 'in trade', he and solicitor friend Stanley Rowland — who's son James is still a member to this day — decided to form their own org­anisation at Holsworthy.
