LAST weekend saw a return to the glory days for several of Altarnun Football Club's retired players in a Veterans' match that ended in a seven-goal thriller.
On Saturday, July 18, past and present players, along with a healthy number of spectators, gathered for what turned out to be a very competitive 90 minute match.
Whilst it was friendly, it was clear that the veterans had brought their fighting spirit and desire to win, resulting in a really entertaining game.
Half time arrived and with it brought a very welcome break to many tired legs, but the entertainment continued as players took to the field for the second period.
End of play saw the traditional hand shake, with smiles and laughs aplenty — recapturing a return to more 'youthful' days.
The final score 4-3 to the gold and blacks.
The event was very well attended and continued on in to the afternoon with a BBQ, bar and raffle — all helping to raise much neededfunds for the club.
The sun shone and helped make it a very enjoyable time for everyone involved.
