EIGHT teams of amateur footballers from Callington and Launceston on Sunday raised £128 for CHICKS and the Alzheimer's Society.

The one-day, seven-a-side tournament took place at Callington Community College, with teams from Ginsters, Tesco and Kensey Foods eventually losing out to winners St Dominick Ladies Football Club and Tamar Foods.

"It was a great tournament, well put on," said Rich Warne, manager of the victorious St Dominick Ladies team. "It's good to see that ladies football is still an enjoyment to them. Well done to Tesco and Ginsters and I hope lots was raised."

Mick Ryan, Cornwall fundraiser for CHICKS, expressed his appreciation. "Many thanks to Ginsters for organising this wonderful event. The money raised will go a long way towards funding the free respite breaks CHICKS provides for disadvantaged children from all over the UK, including many from Cornwall."
